Meet our newest buddy, Oreo, pictured just after he arrived at his new home on October 12th, 2001. Being new to our area, he was restrained by the halter and chain. This restrictive arrangement was dispensed with in just about 24 hours as he quickly settled in for what we hope will be a lengthy stay. At this stage of his life, our new friend was very confused as his former mistress had passed away leaving him to beg for food in the neighborhood. Friends of ours, being aware of his predicament, suggested that we consider adopting Oreo.
Here our good friend establishes himself on a dilapidated desk in the garage in order to survey activity that just might be of significance to him. It is on this desk that he is combed/brushed each evening in a routine designed to minimize the amount of hair scattered about the inside of the house proper. Oreo doesn't mind this primping except he does resist any attempt at brushing or combing his tail. He evidently considers any such effort as a personal insult! He obviously insists on complete privacy and tranquility in and around that particular body part.
Our furry friend has acquired squatter's rights on the seat of my favorite chair in the garage. He spends a great deal of time on this perch during the day and insists on 100% occupancy throughout every night.
As can be seen, Oreo sometimes dazzles onlookers with his Bright Green eyes!
'Tis the time to be jolly, Oreo! Now, how about a big smile for all the viewers? Oh well, perhaps our friend will be in a better mood next time. He hasn't, as yet, become accustomed to sharing a photo-op with Santa. Please check back next year at about this time; he may even have a smile for you then!
Nuff Sed!
