A tern for the worse? Not really, these guys
eat nothing but the best; stale pop corn and dry cat food, as furnished by Ruth.
Hey
dummy! The lagoon's over here!
Ms Stork being very
considerate by using the facilities provided. These big birds can be messy
if not potty trained.
Sir Stork,
our most noble of feathery visitors, poses for the camera, but not for
nothing. Like
our heron friend, he is looking for a hand-out. Don't be fooled by the old
fairy-tales in which he is depicted carrying a baby slung in a diaper...the
baby would be long gone as his dinner and the diaper used as a napkin. This
fellow will eat anything! Fortunately, he hasn't eaten our cat yet but he has no doubt given it serious consideration.
Here Kitty Kitty....

Ms Anhinga, also addressed as "Water Turkey" or "Darter" by admirers and, conversely,"Snakebird" by those not so enthused. She landed on a piling of our dock in Octobe, 2003. Our unusual visitor probably dropped by to check out the snacks being consumed by our other feathed friends. This bird is unusual in that it actually swins under water in search of food. It is truly a creature of the land, sea, and air! Unfortunately the sunlight was out of the West at the time of this photo opportunity. This situation caused our new acqaintance to be shown in silhouette, thus obliterating details. Hopefully we will spot her soon at an earlier time of day and thusly record a more detailed and realistic image. When such photo is available, we will be back to display same on this page.
